Heritage & Culture Committee

This committees terms of reference include:

Overseeing the archive and heritage collections and ensuring that the collections are correctly administered and conserved according to the rules that apply to its official registered status
Overseeing the heritage displays
Management of the Stamford Hill Battlefield site
Management of the Barge Workshop at Helebridge
Management of Poughill Churchyard
The consideration of heritage issues and matters relating to conservation areas and the listing of buildings
To encourage and sponsor arts, cultural and heritage events within the town within the budgetary provision agreed by the council
Liaison with NCDC and other local bodies established for the promotion and/or management of arts and heritage facilities and activities

It meets approximately every 2 months and at other times if required by the chair

The committee is constituted of councillors and co-opted members. It is chaired by a councillor and advised by a qualified, specialist Museum's Officer

Education & Lifelong Learning Officer - non-voting
