Summer Programme Offered Fun-Filled Activities
for Local Children
This summer, Bude-Stratton Town Council (BSTC) was delighted to support an engaging food and activities initiative provided by LJD Coaching. The programme, aimed at local children, promised an enjoyable and active childcare experience throughout the school holiday period.
Thanks to partial funding from BSTC, LJD Coaching were able to provide 1,000 places on this amazing programme, enabling local children to embark on a summer of fun, learning and friendship.
The programme boasted a wide range of activities tailored to children’s interests, including sports, music, games, arts and crafts. Moreover, a nutritious breakfast and lunch were provided ensuring the children’s wellbeing throughout the day—all for an affordable £5 per day. Children who qualified for free school meals during term time were able to attend for free with their places being funded by central government.
Recently three BSTC Councillors visited Bude Primary School while the programme was in session. They witnessed first-hand the enriching experiences children were having, from honing ball skills to engaging in teamwork exercises and even trying their hands at drumming. The programme provided a secure and engaging environment.
Councillor Jackie Diffey expressed her enthusiasm, saying “It was wonderful to see all the children in their various groups, learning ball skills, drumming, teamwork and so much more, in a safe, supportive environment, no matter what their individual needs were -fantastic! I’m very pleased that BSTC were able to provide funding for such a worthwhile venture.”
Liam Dart, the manager of LJD Coaching will be preparing a comprehensive feedback report on the programme’s outcomes, which will be shared with BSTC shortly.
Supporting this initiative underscored BSTC’s commitment to fostering positive experiences for our community’s children while promoting and environment of inclusivity and growth. We look forward to a successful continuation of this programme and its lasting impact on the local youth.
