Bude-Stratton Town Council Seeks Consultant for Neighbourhood Plan Review

Bude-Stratton Town Council (BSTC), is initiating a comprehensive review of its Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), initially approved in 2016. This revision aims to ensure the plan remains an effective tool within the local planning framework, reflecting the latest community needs and environmental challenges. To achieve this, BSTC is seeking a skilled consultant to guide and manage the review process.

Objectives of the Review

The review will focus on ensuring the NDP aligns with Cornwall’s broader planning policies and the specific needs of Bude-Stratton residents. It aims to incorporate recent census data, the Cornwall Local Plan and the Climate Emergency Development Plan Document, with particular emphasis on sustainable development, green space protection and climate change adaption strategies.

Scope of Work and Community Involvement

The selected consultant will be responsible for creating a project plan, supporting the NDP review working group, conducting public consultations and drafting the reviewed NDP in alignment with national and local planning policies. Community and stakeholder involvement is crucial, with a wide range of local organisations and residents providing input through mixed methods of engagements.

Budget and Timeline

The council has allocated £10,000 for this consultancy, covering all aspects of the review process. The project is set to begin on 1st March 2024, with a target of completion of the review in time for a referendum on 1st May 2025.

Prospective Experienced Consultants are invited to tender for this opportunity by submitting a comprehensive proposal that outlines their approach, relevant experience and understanding of the technical and community aspects of this review.
