Bude-Stratton Welcomes Guests from Ergué-Gabéric
On the morning of Saturday 18th May, Bude-Stratton Town Council formally welcomed members of the Bude-Stratton Twinning Association and their guests from Ergué-Gabéric, our twin town in Brittany, France.
The newly appointed Mayor, Cllr. Steven Haynes, warmly greeted our Breton guests during this special event marking the forty-fifth year of the Bude-Stratton Twinning Association. In his speech, the Mayor highlighted the importance of strengthening international relations, especially during times of increased tension. He emphasised the value of sharing commonalities and celebrating differences. As a token of goodwill, the Mayor presented the visitors with a framed architectural drawing of the Storm Tower and a newly published book on the history of Bude Castle. In return, he received a selection of local produce from Brittany.
Following the formal presentation, attendees enjoyed an informative talk by the Town Council’s Project and Strategy Manager, Francesca Churchill-Zerilli, on the project to relocate the Storm Tower. This presentation was simultaneously translated into French for the benefit of our guests. Additionally, local mushroom producer Robbie Pearce gave an engaging presentation about his business and offered samples of his mushroom pâté.
Bude-Stratton Town Council is delighted to reaffirm its relationship with Ergué-Gabéric and the Bude-Stratton Twinning Association, celebrating our enduring connection and shared cultural heritage.
