Climate Change Planning Policy – Have your say

Time to have your say –

Public Consultation on the Pre-Submission stage.

There will be a public consultation on the pre-submission stage of the Climate Emergency Development Plan Document (DPD). This will run from 10 August and close at 5pm on 25 September 2020

What is the document all about?

Cornwall Council declared a climate emergency in 2019. We  need to change the way we do things to address the emergency. Our aim to become carbon neutral by 2030, is a massive ask and will need a combined effort to achieve. We will be asking Westminster to help by giving us the powers and funding we need to deliver our ambitions.

All services across the Council will have a part to play and planning is one part of the solution. Cornwall still needs houses and infrastructure for residents. We want to give our children and grandchildren a Cornwall where they can live and work. Planning Policies will have a major impact on how we protect and shape the Cornwall of the future.

The Cornwall Local Plan starts to address developments and climate change. The Climate Emergency DPD makes the Local Plan policies stronger and can add more that will address climate change.

We continue to collect evidence from experts and stakeholders in relevant areas. The evidence identifies issues and helps us create policy options to address them.  Consultation on the Pre-Submission DPD is the second stage the legal process for making the DPD.

The Climate Change emergency affects everyone, and we all need to work together to address it. It’s important that you tell us what you think of our plans. We want you to share your ideas for the future of a more sustainable and resilient Cornwall.
