Concerns over Canal water levels

We have received many expressions of concern at the exceptionally low water levels in the Canal.

Cornwall Council is aware of the current state of the Canal, and has suspended all water-based activities until further notice. Additionally, they are asking people to keep away from the embankment as the extent of the damage to the canal wall is now very clear. The Environment Agency also visited the canal yesterday to assess the situation.

And FYI, Bude Canal Angling Association has issued a statement today, closing the main canal (from the Sea Lock to Helebridge) to all anglers from 6pm today. Details can be found here https://www.budecanalangling.co.uk/canal-closed-to-anglers

We shall update the community as and when we receive further information from Cornwall Council and the Environment Agency.
