Last week’s Full Council agreed a budget of up to £25k for Christmas lights for the town.
The Council had been considering a proposal to outsource the light provision to a specialist Christmas lighting company on a 3-year contract, which would have been a minimum spend of just under £50k. But ultimately, it was agreed that it would be more cost effective to invest in our own lights for lighting up Bude-Stratton every year.
Unfortunately, it seems Christmas lights are extremely expensive. In recognition of this, the Council also felt, moving forward, it would be worth establishing the economic benefits of a good seasonal light display for the town and its businesses, and BSTC will be looking into this further.
