Funding for village halls & Playing Fields

Sport England have been in touch with our colleagues at our national partner ACRE with the following message:

“We [at Sport England] are running a transition programme that may be of interest to your network of halls as we want to particularly target older people and people in deprived areas.  Our insight during the pandemic is showing older people are disproportionately affected by Covid in terms of sport and physical activity – many locations they attend for activity will have been closed and anxiety about safety when returning to activity is higher in that age group than in others.

Our small grants programme is aimed at helping organisations adapt their delivery to make it safe to return, whether that is physical adaptations to buildings or delivering to smaller groups to support social distancing.  Supporting older people will be a particular priority – although we welcome applications from all and are currently able to support most eligible projects, irrespective of whether they meet a priority audience.

Awards are up to £10,000, they can be for capital and revenue costs so may be of particular interest to village halls and playing field associations”
