Join the Storm Tower Community Sew!
Bude-Stratton Town Council is delighted to announce the launch of the Storm Tower Community Sew, a new initiative inviting local residents to come together and create a beautiful textile mural depicting Bude’s historic sites. This project is part of the Compass Point Project, made possible by funding received from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The Compass Point Project successfully relocated the iconic Storm Tower to protect it from coastal erosion. Now, the focus shifts to celebrating Bude’s rich heritage through a collaborative art project. The mural will be a testament to the town’s vibrant community spirit and dedication to preserving its history.
The council is calling on all who have a passion for patchwork, are enchanted by embroidery, or are avid about arts and crafts to participate. Whether you are an experienced stitcher or a novice needleworker, your creativity and enthusiasm are welcomed. This project is an excellent opportunity for community members to come together, share skills, and contribute to a lasting piece of art.
The first planning session for the Storm Tower Community Sew will take place in the Blanchminster Room at The Castle, Bude on Wednesday 18th September, at 12pm. This session will be an opportunity to meet fellow craft enthusiasts, share ideas, and begin planning the mural.
We hope that you will join us in this unique creative endeavour and be part of a project that will leave a lasting legacy for Bude.
You can let us know you’re coming along by RSVPing to our Facebook Event or by emailing us at office@bude-stratton.gov.uk
