Outdoor Spaces
The Town Council manages several outdoor spaces which are available for community hire all year round. The Castle grounds, Bude Light and Bandstand can all be hired as individual spaces or as a whole, for larger community events, festivals, weddings and other celebrations. The Triangle in the centre of Bude makes an excellent spot for maximum visibility for your event, and even the spectacular Downs can be hired by special negotiation.
The Bude Light was commissioned by Bude-Stratton Town Council to mark the millennium whilst celebrating the inventions of Sir Goldsworthy Gurney who built The Castle behind. Designed by local artist Carole Vincent and built in collaboration with Anthony Fanshawe, the paved area surrounding the colourful slender concrete cone presents as an amphitheatre. The Bude light area can be hired for smaller events or as part of the whole outside space.
The centre of community music throughout the summer, the bandstand sees groups from across the musical genres playing to crowds on The Castle grounds. The Bandstand can be hired individually or as whole along side the Bude light and Castle Grounds.
Located in the heart of the Town Centre, The Triangle is suitable to hire for small community events and performances year round.
The Downs is owned by Bude-Stratton Town Council and a designated space for the community to use and therefore are not for hire, however, for any planned community events you wish to take place on the Downs please complete the form below. Due to the nature of the land, it will be at the Councils discretion to approve.
