PUBLIC MEETING – BUDE CANAL DREDGING PROGRAMME
? 1.30pm, Thursday, 12 January 2023 in the Conference Room at the Parkhouse Centre
Routine dredging work is planned for Bude Canal from the sea lock gates to Rodd’s Lock, starting later this month. The canal must be dredged to reinstate a safe navigable depth, to restore its role in carrying flood waters and to make it more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
The project is due to be completed towards the end of April, but understandably there will be some disruption to the public during this time.
? The canal will be closed for the duration of the dredging programme.
? Sections of the tow path and cycleway will also be closed when works are underway.
? The Harbour car park will be closed, as will two-thirds of the Crescent car park and the Crescent overflow car park.
Cormac has been appointed the main contractor for the works, and will be leading the public meeting next week, with technical drawings for those who are interested and further information on the timings and schedule of work. Everyone is welcome.
In the meantime, if you have any queries or concerns, go to Cornwall Council’s Bude Canal and Harbour Engagement Platform here where you can find further contact details.
