Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day Commemorations 2024

Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day Commemorations 2024

Bude-Stratton Town Council, in partnership with the Royal British Legion Bude and Stratton Branch, is honoured to announce the arrangements for this year’s Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorations. These events offer an important opportunity for the community to come together and pay tribute to the men and women who served, and continue to serve, in our armed forces.

Remembrance Sunday – 10th November 2024

In Bude, please muster at 10:30 on The Strand. There will then be wreath-laying at the War Memorial, followed by a service at Bude Methodist Church.

In Stratton, a service will take place at the War Memorial at 09:30, followed by a service at St Andrew’s Church.

Please note that there will be road closures in Bude from 10:30 to 11:15 during the parade, affecting The Strand, Bencoolen Bridge, Bencoolen Road, and Ergue Gaberic Way.

Armistice Day – 11th November 2024

On Monday, 11th November, a small service will be held at 10:45 in the Bude Triangle to mark Armistice Day and honour the moment the First World War ended.

Lighting in Tribute

As a mark of respect, the War Memorial in Bude will be illuminated on the evening of Sunday, 10th November, and Storm Tower will be lit on the evening of Monday, 11th November.

Poppy Appeal

Poppy Appeal collection tins are now widely available in and around Bude. The Poppy Appeal shop will be open Monday 4th November in the ice-cream shop opposite Boots, kindly donated by Chris and Clair Couch. From Saturday 2nd November through to the 11th, Poppy Appeal collectors will also be in Morrisons.

We encourage all residents to join these important services, both in Bude and Stratton, to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.
