Bude-Stratton Town Council in conjunction with the Bude and Stratton Branch of the Royal British Legion have decided to make an early announcement regarding the Remembrance Sunday events that take place annually, across Bude and Stratton.
We are still awaiting on official guidance from The Royal British Legion and the guidance provided to Local Councils on such matters, but in light of the current Coronavirus restrictions in place, we can confirm, unfortunately, there will be no parade or march past this year and no large church service.
We are looking at ways to mark the occasion, but they are likely to be by invite only. This will enable an element of control over the number of people around the Stratton and Shalder Hill memorials and any prayer services that are arranged outside.
We will do everything in our control to mark this day respectfully and properly within the current guidelines. Due to the current climate, the arrangements are subject to change and we will issue the final agreed plans closer to the time.
In normal years the show of public support for Remembrance Day is marvellous but this year we must regretfully ask that you stay away.
We know this will be disappointing to many but suggest the public mark this day in alternative ways this year, with their families at home or by visiting the memorials at their own convenience over the month of November to pay their respects.
