Bude-Stratton Town Council Awards Skatepark Contract to CANVAS Spaces Limited

Bude-Stratton Town Council is delighted to announce the appointment of CANVAS Spaces as the contractor for the redevelopment and enhancement of the skatepark facility at Crooklets Beach.

Following a comprehensive tender process, CANVAS Spaces was selected for their innovative approach and commitment to creating vibrant, community-focused area. With a history of skatepark innovation dating back to 2013, their team of professionals promises a redevelopment that will cater specifically to Bude’s unique community needs.

John Flood, Design Director at CANVAS, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Bude-Stratton Town Council in delivering a bespoke modern skatepark for Bude. Working closely with the local community, we aim to develop a facility that caters to a diverse range of users and abilities. Our plans include regenerating the existing space to incorporate a separate low-level, spacious area and a unique surf-skate feature – the first of its kind. Expect to see a facility unique to Bude, developed with the local community. The result will be a space that will be cherished, encourage participation, and enjoyed for many years to come.”

This announcement marks a significant milestone following years of dedication to transferring the existing site to town council control. “The partnership with CANVAS Spaces represents a crucial step forward in revitalising our much-loved skatepark, ensuring it will serve our community well into the future,” shares Mike Dawe, Mayor of Bude-Stratton Town Council.

It is important to note that the initial concept designs presented by CANVAS Spaces are intended as a springboard for the forthcoming public consultation process. These early designs are not the final versions; they are preliminary ideas meant to spark discussion and invite community input. The council is committed to creating a skatepark that truly reflects the needs, desires and creativity of Bude’s residents.

As the project moves into the consultation phase, Bude-Stratton Town Council looks forward to working in partnership with the community. This stage will offer a pivotal opportunity for residents to have a direct impact on the design and features of the new skatepark, ensuring it will be a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

Bude-Stratton Town Council invites all residents to participate in this transformative process. Details regarding the first consultation date will be announced soon, offering the community a chance to contribute to shaping the future of Bude’s skatepark.
