In March 2023, Bude-Stratton Town Council made the decision to acquire 1 Lord’s Court, a property comprising Stratton Stores and four flats above. Since then, our priority has been ensuring the safety and well-being of all occupants.
Extensive assessments of the residential areas have revealed the need for substantial and complex renovations. These works are necessary for the long-term integrity of the building and sadly, render it impractical for tenants to remain. Consequently, we have reached the difficult decision to terminate the current tenancies.
We understand the gravity of this decision and the impact it may have on those affected. It has not been made lightly, and we have explored all possible alternatives. However, ensuring the safety and quality of our community’s housing is paramount.
I want to assure you that the operation of Stratton Stores will continue uninterrupted. Our commitment to maintaining this vital local business remains steadfast.
