The first meeting of the re-invigorated Town Team took place last night, following a hiatus in its work due to the pandemic.
The Town Team has been set up with the purpose of driving forward projects to enhance the economic prosperity and wellbeing of the Bude-Stratton parish area.
The Town Team is made up of a cross-section of parties who are passionate about the future of Bude-Stratton. This includes the local MP, county and town councillors, high street representatives, the Bude Area Tourist Board, as well as representatives from the voluntary, environmental, health, transport, educational and creative/digital sectors.
Following last night’s election of the new Chair (Cllr Tony Gibbs) and Vice-Chair (Bude Area Tourist Board’s Linda Winstanley), and the adoption of the terms of reference, it was agreed to focus initially on one key capital project – ‘Enhance the Triangle’ – which had previously been identified as the top priority. This project is still at early stages and more detailed project plans and proposals will be developed for future consultation.
There are still some vacancies on the Town Team panel, and the team is calling on others to express their interest should they wish to be involved. Specific vacancies are as follows: High Street x 1, Voluntary Sector x 1, Education x 1, Youth Organisation x 1, Healthcare x 1, Transport x 1, Creative & Digital x 2. Expressions of interest can be submitted to the Town Council and will be reviewed by the Town Team at subsequent meetings.
Agendas, minutes and further Town Team updates will be available on the Bude-Stratton Town Council’s website at https://www.bude-stratton.gov.uk/your-future-bude-stratton/bude-town-team/
