Bude Skatepark Redevelopment Takes a Step Forward
Bude-Stratton Town Council is pleased to share an update on the ongoing project to improve skatepark facilities in Bude. A planning application has now been submitted for the redevelopment of the existing skatepark, marking an important step forward for the project.
Background
The council has been exploring options for a new or improved skatepark for several years. Initial plans to extend the current skatepark were paused after ecological surveys identified a rare type of dune grassland on the proposed extension site. This habitat is protected under national planning policy, which means building on the land was not possible.
In November 2025, Full Council agreed a phased approach to delivering improved facilities:
- Short term: redevelop and modernise the existing skatepark within its current footprint
- Long term: continue exploring options for a larger facility at an alternative location
This approach allows the council to make immediate improvements to the skatepark while continuing to plan for potential expansion in the future.
The Planning Application
The planning application for the redevelopment of the existing skatepark is now live. Residents are invited to view the application and submit comments via Cornwall Council’s Planning Portal using reference PA26/00656.

After several years of planning and setbacks, submitting this planning application represents a significant milestone in delivering improved facilities for Bude’s skating community.
