Important Update: Walking & Cycling Improvements in Bude
Cormac, on behalf of Cornwall Council, will soon begin roadworks to enhance walking and cycling infrastructure in the area. Starting on Monday 21st October 2024, the project is expected to last approximately eleven weeks, with completion targeted for early January 2025.
Key improvements will include:
- A new controlled crossing on The Crescent
- A walking and cycling route through The Crescent carpark featuring high friction surfacing
- Upgraded islands on the mini roundabout at the junction of The Crescent, Bencoolen Road and The Strand, along with an additional controlled crossing point
- Widened footpath at the junction of The Crescent and The Strand to meet new standards
- Installation of a further controlled crossing on The Strand
- Increased height of parapet railings along the new route for enhanced safety.
To ensure safety for both the workforce and road users, three-way traffic lights will be in operation. When work takes place on The Strand, the traffic lights will be reduced to two-way. This will cause some disruption to traffic flow, so please allow some extra time for your journeys.
